All major roads in my area are impassable. I barely made it home with my 3 daughters and wife from a flooded out neighborhood (wife’s Expedition was a boss tonight). No alternative routes through town. We’ve had TEN inches of rain so far TODAY, a nd it’ll be raining until Saturday .
Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Stay safe, and I hope you’ve found

I have a Kayak if that helps.

A coworker of mine lost his car in high water on his street already...this came out of nowhere. Glad to hear you guys are safe!

But airboats are faster!

Yeah, the ponds/flood control bayous in the other neighborhood we were in suddenly came out of their banks all around us. I basically declared a full-on “eff this ess” and bugged out quickly. Fun evening.

We’re gonna need a bigger umbrella.

Much obliged!

10 inches of rain? That's insane. That's like half the amount we get in an entire year.

Glad you are ok? What part are you in? I’m in Meyerland, and spent the better part of an hour getting my girls from gymnastics class three miles away. All back safe now, but I need a beer.

No airboat, but if you need a rescue, my rental this week is a 4wd truck!
I went through some neighborhoods in the Spring area that were getting deep, but nothing overflowed. Let’s hope it has time to clear out before the next band of rain comes through.

Be glad it is not snow. I h ope you have high ground. Your rain is heading here as maybe snow. We are high and dry. Other locals have had s brutal spring being flooded 3 times.

Gadamn that’s a lot of rain!!!
Stay safe!

WOOOOOOO AIRBOAT!
Seriously, though. Glad you made it home safely. We’ve had some rain up here tonight, but not a huge amount. LOTS of lighting, though.

10 inches???? That's more rain than we get in an entire year!

I don’t know if it’s the same system but I hit something similar driving through central Kansas on Monday. We also had hail drifts on the side of the road when it was all said and done. That’s some scary shit.

Ahh must be spring. It seems we get these every year now. Keep staying safe!

Get on the Oregon Trail and come west like my ancestors. If you don’t get dysentery and die, you’ll enjoy the weather out here much more than the Midwest.

We’re in Fort Bend county. My ‘hood didn’t flood in Harvey, and didn’t flood last night. The areas around us, though... :(

I tried calling my buddy that lives around the corner from me. He owns an F-650 Supertruck 4x4 that has about four feet of clearance, but he’s out of town. :(

Final updated amount was over a foot.

I don’t think it is. We also have another system coming at us later today. Should be fun.

I’m pretty sure Austin has had some fun weather this week, too.

Yeah, but nothing like this. You guys got twice as much in a day as we are forecast to get this whole week. The USGS rain gauge a mile from my house shows only 2.5" since May 2. But it’s going to be a wet one today. This about this sort of rain, though, is that I might get 2.5" while somebody a mile away gets 7". Of rain, that is.

Yeah, areas of Ft Bend wer e hit hard last night. We are drying out today hopefully before the rest of the week. Our challenge is that Keegan's bayou drains to Brays, and when Sugarland gets it as bad as we do the water rises fast.

I’m hoping the situation is better for you this morning.

Of rain, yes, but other stuff too.

I appreciate it. It wasn’t horrible in my neighborhood last night, but all around us was a whole batch of messed up.
We accidentally put ourselves in the flood waters last night and, upon realizing our screw up/magnitude of the rain coming down (which we originally underestimated), we were able to nope the hell back to our house and higher ground.

One of my coworkers just told me that he found a Maserati submerged in flood water last night. He mentioned Bray’s Bayou, so he must live somewhere West of town.

One of my coworkers had a Mercedes SLK get covered to the roof last night. Sucks, because he loved that car. My car is at the mechanic since yesterday morning (Hooray for timing chain breakage!) that’s right beside a drainage ditch. I was concerned that my beloved Caddy would befall the same fate, but it’s okay, and now I owe the guy $3,400.
![]() 05/08/2019 at 13:59 |

Was the SLK parked or did he drive it into water? If it was parked, did his house flood too?
Sounds like you’re dealing with an interference engine. That sucks.

Me too (who’s that?)

Parked on the street. Water came up and swallowed it.
